Payroll Specialist

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced payroll specialist to be responsible for all payroll-related tasks. In this role, your responsibilities will include collecting and reviewing employee information and working hours, calculating wages, preparing and processing employee payments, and maintaining accurate payroll records. The position works very closely with Finance, HR and with our payroll vendor.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collect and audit timesheet data and payroll information.
  • Reconcile pre-processing reports to ensure accuracy of information prior to processing payroll.
  • Perform overtime, sick leaves, and other payroll code audits.
  • Research discrepancies of payroll information and/or documentation to ensure accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing.
  • Maintain payroll information, files and records to provide up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
  • Analyze payroll related information to ensure accurate distribution of funds and payroll.
  • Enter data into payroll, administrative databases and software programs.
  • Calculate wages, benefits, tax deductions, commissions, etc.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries, resolve concerns from employees and management.
  • Prepare periodic payroll reports for review by management.
  • Enroll new employees in national institutions.
  • Manage reporting and support of the HR system.
  • Collaborate in other HR functions. 

 Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Familiarity with relevant employment Law.
  • Strong organizational and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding financial matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient in the English verbally and in written communications.
  • Willing to take initiative and work independently when needed.

 Education & Experience:

  • At least two related experiences required.
  • High School diploma required.
  • A degree in accounting, business, or a related field may be preferred.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll practices.
  • Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, sufficient for both internal and customer-facing communications.
  • Experience with ADP preferred.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and organize assigned tasks and workflow.
