Health Prime CEO and President Pranil Vadgama has appointed Sharmil Kurian to the role of Chief Operating Officer, effective October 25.
National Harbor, MD — October 26th, 2021 —Health Prime CEO and President Pranil Vadgama has appointed Sharmil Kurian to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the company, effective October 25.
“Sharmil´s appointment to our Health Prime executive team will provide leadership and strategic vision to the organization on our RCM services as we continue driving results for clients, spurring growth and increasing the overall efficiency of the organization,” Vadgama said.
Kurian shares the same values and mission as Health Prime: empower practices and health systems to financially thrive while remaining focused on what matters most, their patients.
With 20 years of global management experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations, Kurian assumes the role as the company enters a new phase of growth, focused on reaching a broader network of healthcare providers and specialties.

Prior to joining Health Prime, Kurian held the position of Vice President of Operations at R1. For over 9 years, he managed various operational portfolios in the US and India. Additionally, Kurian held senior leadership roles at organizations including Washington University, BJC Healthcare, St. Louis Children´s Hospital, Accredo, Express Scripts and Unity Point Health System.
Kurian earned his Medical Degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, and his MHA from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a certified process improvement specialist and has a CIC credential from the American Academy of Professional Coders.
John McDonough, previous Health Prime COO, will continue to be instrumental at Health Prime in his new role as Chief Integration Officer.
